Warning Signs: The Termite Trifecta
1. Discarded Wings
Found near the foundation, windows, & doors. When winged termites start swarming and building up their colonies the nymphs when maturing will shed their wings for their new set. These termites are on the look out for new places to colonize.
2. Damaged Wood
Found below the surface or between walls of your home. Termites consume wood and lumber from the inside and will only leave the shell or paint remaining. That’s why when you tap on wood and you hear a hollow sound its a good indication you have a termite infestation.
3. Mud Tubes
Found near the base of your house and indicates a termite infestation. These are thin tubes situated near the termite nest. There purpose is access between the ground and surface or to transport food.
Termite Mud Tubes are commonly made out of soil or wood scraps.
